Letter from the President:
Welcome to the Los Gatos National Junior Basketball 2009-2010 Season.
The Los Gatos Chapter of NJB is excited about this season. Last year, over 350 children participated in Los Gatos NJB program. We offer young people the opportunity to have fun, develop as individuals and learn to play basketball. They play as teams in a competitive environment for boys and girls in grades three through eight, ages 7-14.
We offer two levels of play, called Divisional and All-Net. The majority of children play at the Division Level, where players attend Division Skill Evaluations in order to form balanced teams. Division games are played against teams from other Silicon Valley NJB chapters as well as other Los Gatos teams. Division level play at three levels:
1. Division 1: Boys and Girls – 7th and 8th grade
2. Division 2: Boys and Girls – 5th and 6th grade
3. Division 3: Boys and Girls – 3rd and 4th grade
The All-Net level is for advanced players who qualify in All-Net Tryout sessions. All-Net teams play teams from other Silicon Valley Chapters. There is an additional fee of $85 per players to cover added costs for all-net.
There are boys and girls All-Net teams for;
All-Net Boys and Girls – 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Tryouts and Evaluations will be held in early October.
Practices are two times a week, one night during the week and once on Saturday. Practices are held in local gyms and in all likelihood your child’s team will have one practice time at Loma Prieta School and one time at Union, Rolling Hills or Fisher Middle Schools. Games are played on Sunday.
There are other leagues to play in if you feel that two practices a week are too much or if your child is wait listed.

We continue to put a strong emphasis on volunteering. NJB relies heavily on volunteers for gym operations, clean-up, fund-raising, uniform distribution, and a host of other tasks. Please pay careful attention to which volunteer activity you would like to select on the application form. The strength and success of our chapter is directly correlated to the active participation of our parents! We expect a large turnout of children this year. Sponsors are welcome to help us absorb the costs of GYM time which is our biggest expense. Since Los Gatos Chapter NJB is a Non Profit Organization.
